English Week 5

Alongside our new text we are going to be writing stories and descriptions.

While we are familiarising ourselves with the new story, this week we are going to write a fact file.

Lesson 1

LO: To identify features of a fact file

What is a fact file?

In our previous learning, we have written fact files about foxes. Can you remember what they include?

We are going to be writing a fact file about dolphins!

Task

Can you write 8 question sentences, to help you begin your research? 

What do you want to know about dolphins?

Remember a question sentence usually needs an answer and ends in a ?

What type of animal is a dolphin?

Lesson 2
LO: To research facts about dolphins

Task

Using your questions from yesterday and a search engine, can you write 10 facts about dolphins?

Example

Dolphins are mammals, this means that they need to come to the surface to breathe.

Lesson 3

LO: To join sentences with conjunctions

Conjunctions extend sentences, providing meaning and explanation.
