Topic Menu

Our new topic is all about Oceans and Coasts.

We have some key questions by the end of the topic that we should be able to answer.

·        What is an ocean?
·        What lives in the ocean?
·        Why are oceans important to us?
·        How can we protect oceans?



Geography

·        Follow the link to learn the songs
·        Can you name the 5 main oceans and find them on a globe, map or on google maps?
·        Could you research and label on a map where dolphins might live?

History






Christopher Columbus was a famous explorer who travelled across the oceans.


·        Can you find our who he was and what he was famous for?
·        Use google to find 5 key facts about Christopher Columbus?
·        Can you create a presentation – poster, fact file or even a powerpoint to show your learning?


Art

J.M.W Turner was a very famous artist who sometimes  painted the sea and boats. 
There are many other famous paintings of oceans. 



·       


    


   Can you research an artist of your choice and find out some of their famous paintings?
·        Look carefully at the images you find, what do you like about them? Are they all similar? What makes them similar or different?
·        Can you create your own ocean image?


PSHCE

It’s really important for us to understand the effect we have on oceans and how they are always changing.







Can you create a colourful poster to explain steps that people could take to protect our oceans?
