Reading Challenge:5

Reading Challenge 5

Good morning Year 2!

I hope you enjoyed the reading Miss Elliott and I did last week on the blog.

This week’s reading questions are all about Dolphin Boy.

Read the pages below.
(Remember if you click the pictures get bigger, or you can follow the link to the pdf of the story)

Please record your answers to these questions on a piece of paper or in your home learning book.

1)    Why did Jim name the dolphin Smiler?

2)   ‘He dropped his bag, pulled off his shoes and dived off the pier’

How many words can you think of to replace the word ‘dived’ and still keep the meaning of the sentence the same?

3)   Can you find two verbs (actions) that Smiler completed before Jim sat on him?

4)  Why did Jim have to ‘cling’ onto Smiler?

5)   ‘They were having the time of their lives!’
What does this sentence tell you about how the children are feeling?

6)   Why are the children having the time of their lives?

Remember if you would like to send in pictures of your learning please email us at...

We'd love to see pictures of you reading at home and you could be on the blog!
