Topic Menu
We are continuing
with our oceans topic but thought you might need some new activities to help
answer our key questions.
Let’s think about those questions again!
· What is an ocean?
· What lives in the ocean?
· Why are oceans important to us?
· How can we protect oceans?
Geography
In Year 2, we think
about our national geographical awareness. At the beginning of Year 2 we learnt
about the countries in the UK and their capital cities. Now it’s time to think
about the surrounding seas!
·
Can you list the countries in the UK
and draw the flag of each country?
·
Can you research a capital city in the
UK and explain 5 facts about it?
·
Can you label a map of the UK with its capital
cities and seas?
History
We have already learnt about one famous explorer,
time to think about what humans use the oceans for?
·
Can you research how the seas around
the UK were used in the past?
· Can you create a table comparing the how humans
used oceans in the past compared to the present?
·
Can you research another explore who
sailed on the ocean and find the similarities to Christopher Columbus?
D.T
·
You could design and plan you own boat!
· Try making it out of resources you have at home.
·
Test your boat to see if it floats in
the bath or a sink.
PSHCE
On the 8th of June it will be Ocean Day
2020.
You could…
·
Design a poster to advertise Ocean day.
· Think and talk about why we need to protect the
ocean.
· Make up your very own play about an animal in the
ocean that needs our help and how they were saved!
· Look at water safety rules and create a PowerPoint
to explain these to someone younger than you.
·
Create a fact file to explain how water
sports can keep us healthy.
Remember
you can send us pictures of your learning to year2@hilltop.doncaster.sch.uk
We
look forward to seeing your learning!
