Reading Challenge: 9

Reading Challenge 9

Good morning Year 2! Last week, we finished Light House Keeper’s Lunch. We are starting a new text this week, and our topic learning will link to this.

Our text is Peter Pan!

Peter Pan was originally written as a play by J.M. Barrie. Disney turned it into a popular film, so you may know lots about it already. Our book is a retelling of the story in rhyme, so you will have to read carefully as there are some differences to the play and the film.

Below are the first few pages of our text. (click on the pictures to make them bigger)

There is also a link to the author reading the first part of the text.

Read the questions carefully and answer the questions underneath.

1)    On what street does our tale begin?

2)  What is Mrs Darling as sweet as?

3)   Can you name the three darling children?

4)  ‘The cold wind picked him up and tumbled Can you think of another word that means tumbled?

5)  What did Peter Pan loose in the room?

6)  Why did Wendy wake up?

7)  How does Wendy attach Peter’s shadow?

8)  What does Peter say he doesn’t want?

9)  Why did Peter run away?

Remember you can email your learning to year2@hilltop.doncaster.sch.uk
